Monroe — The Wal-Mart stores in Monroe and Middletown are participating in a clothing distribution program. They donate items of clothing with very minor damage to Orange County United Way. The clothing is then distributed to local non-profit organizations who give it to their clients. In this way, each month, thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, that would otherwise be thrown out by these stores, is given to county residents who really need it.
