Village reschedules second half of spring pickup - Also announces brush disposal program

    Warwick - The Village of Warwick has revised the second half of its spring pickup of household items from April 21 to April 28 in recognition of Passover. The first half of the spring pickup collection took place this week. The second half, originally slated for April 21, will now take place on April 28. It includes: • East side of Oakland Avenue to Forester Avenue at the railroad tracks to Galloway Road on the north side. • South side of Galloway Road, Homestead Village area, Hawthorne Avenue, Overlook Drive, South Street Extension and Southern Lane to the corporation line of Brady Road. • Gordon Terrace and Ridgefield Road. The items include such things as furniture, mattresses and rugs. However, the village crews will not pick up garbage, leaves, brush, tires, barrels, paint, drain oil, newspapers, construction or building material, televisions, computer equipment, appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers or stoves. All items must be at the curb on the Monday, April 28, for pick-up by 7 a.m. Once the area has been picked up, there will be no return trips. Meanwhile, the Village of Warwick will again have a brush disposal program. Permits will be issued at the Village Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Only Village of Warwick residents will be allowed to dispose brush at the disposal site, located at the Village of Warwick Department of Public Works site in Memorial Park. The site will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. and 4 p.m, beginning April 26 through June 1. No commercial operators will be permitted. Brush cannot exceed 6” in diameter.
