Warwick — It’s time to roll up those sleeves, clean out that basement and make some empty space in the attic. Yes, spring is officially here, which means the Village of Warwick will be collecting your old household items. It’s been a tradition for many years in the Village of Warwick that also used to be extended in the fall. That changed, but spring cleanup begins next month. Steve Sisco, superintendent of the Department of Public Works, said the village crew will divide the village in two, just like in past years. The week of April 16, the Department of Public Works employees will pick up trash along High Street, Church Street, Forester Avenue north of the railroad tracks, Colonial Avenue, the north side of Grand Street to Locust Street, Maple Avenue and all streets within this area. Also, the south side of West Street to Division Street, How Street and all streets within this area to the west side of Oakland Avenue including Campbell Road. The following week, April 23, the other side of town will have its chance. Pickup begins that morning on the east side of Oakland Avenue to Forester Avenue at the railroad tracks to Galloway Road on the north side, the south side of Galloway Road, Homestead Village area, Hawthorne Avenue, Overlook Drive, South Street Extension, Southern Lane to Brady Road, Gordon Terrace and Ridgefield Road. The village will pick up household items including furniture, mattresses and rugs. “We will not pick up garbage, leaves, brush, tires, barrels, paint, oil, newspapers, construction or building materials, televisions, computer equipment, appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers or stoves,” said Sisco. Be sure to put your items out at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday of your area’s pick-up week. Once the area has been covered, the crew will not return for late items. Any questions?
