U.S. Rep. Sue Kelly, R-Katonah, brought U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns, pictured with Kelly, to Warwick Town Hall on Oct. 6 to talk with local growers about various challenges facing their farms this growing season. Kelly has been talking with Black Dirt farmers to find ways to bring additional federal assistance to local growers experiencing problems with this year’s crops. She arranged the town hall meeting with Johanns in response to requests by Hudson Valley farmers for Kelly’s assistance in bringing more federal attention to the problems they are facing locally. More than 40 local farmers attended and asked questions ranging from disaster aid and USDA formulas to immigration, taxes and specialty crop needs. (Photos provided by Rep. Sue Kelly’s staff)
