Upcoming youth programs at Albert Wisner Library

    Warwick - The following is a list of programs, mainly although not exclusively for young people, in the coming weeks at Albert Wisner Public Library. For additional information about the programs, call 986-1047. • Teen Programs at the Library Looking for something to do? Bored with the usual? “No snow” got you down? Come to the Albert Wisner Public Library for something new and different. Get creative or learn to manage your money or even plan your future. Registration is required for all programs. Call to register. • Craft Project Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7: p.m. Penguin-loving teens, take some down time from studying, get on your “happy feet” and head to the library for a fun evening making a special penguin craft with Eileen Korn. A great way to beat the winter blahs and make a treat for yourself or a friend. • The ABCs of Money Management 4 Teens Learn the basics of making money, hanging onto it, and growing it, in three fun, hour-long sessions. Using hands-on exercises and real-life teen scenarios, teens will learn about the following: compound interest, the “rule of 72,” the power of entrepreneurship, investing tips, credit card dangers and debt reduction. Session dates are Tuesdays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27, at 7 p.m. • Careers in Focus: Exploring the Culinary Arts Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. Are you a Food Network junkie, a High School student considering career possibilities or an adult pondering a career shift? If you daydream about working in the field of culinary arts and wonder how to get started, join us at the Library for an interesting and informative evening. Annette Sanchez, of Warwick’s Jean-Claude’s Patisserie and Dessert Café, Jason Grizzanti of the Warwick Valley Winery and Erik Johansen, chef of The Iron Forge Inn restaurant, will describe their career paths, explain the education and training required for their specialties, and answer your questions. This program is open to teens and adults alike. • Pizza and Planning Kick-off Party Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m. If you are a teen age 12 to 18, the library wants your ideas. Come to library for this Teen Advisory organization and planning session. Earn volunteer credit, choose programs, help select library materials and meet and share ideas with other teens - all by becoming a part of the Albert Wisner Public Library Teen Advisory Board.
