Town of Warwick reorganizes for 2008

    Warwick — Jan. 2 is historically the reorganization day for the Town of Warwick. In its first meeting of the year, the town supervisor and council members make appointments for various positions in its government. This week, while Supervisor Michael Sweeton and Councilmen Leonard DeBuck and James Gerstner were sworn into office, the board got down to business and made its appointments for the year 2008. Salaries The salaries for elected officials were set as follows: Supervisor $51,250; town clerk $51,250; four councilmen $10,800 each; two justices $23,970 each; receiver of taxes $36,620. Department of Public Works Commissioner salary: Jeffrey Feagles $70,537.50. Deputy Department of Public Works Commissioner salary: Ben Astorino $50,834. Assessor salary: Richard Hubner $80,200. STAR Program Administrator: Richard Hubner $1,834. Supervisor’s Confidential Secretary: Barbara Devine $36,500. Town attorney: John Hicks $55,000. Records management officer: Marjorie Quackenbush $2,500. Planning consultant: J. Theodore Fink of Greenplan $140 per hour as the Town of Warwick Planning Consultant; $65 per hour for all other town-related work. Appointments Town Board appointments are: Sweeton: Planning and zoning, budget director, Audit Committee, collector of sewer and water rents, local emergency manager. Gerstner: deputy supervisor, technology coordinator, recreation councilman, cable television regulation, liaison to Village of Warwick. DeBuck: Parks, labor management. Mickey Shuback: Water and sewer, recycling, public works, audit committee liaison to Village of Florida. Floyd DeAngelo :Animal control, police, airport, liaison to Village of Greenwood Lake. • The animal control officers for 2008 are: Suzyn Barron, Rebecca Hanlon, Dawn Drake, Kerry Lennon, Ryan Denerley, Timothy Adams, Ian Zucchino and Sharon Downs. • Registrar and Deputy Registrar of vital statistics are Joan Park and Melissa Stevens. • Official newspapers: The Warwick Valley Dispatch, Greenwood Lake News. • Official banks: Key Bank, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Provident Bank. • Bailiffs: Thomas F. McGovern Sr., David Decker, Neil Ryan, Linda Lupinski and James Dooley. • Part-time police officers: Fred W. Bramich, Roy E. Faulls, Richard Koziola, Thomas Prior, Michael T. Urso, Robert DeYoung and John McAndrews. • Veteran fuel allotment: $700 fuel allotment granted to each of the following veterans organizations: VFW Post #4662 (Warwick), American Legion Post #214 (Warwick) American Legion Post #1250 (Florida) American Legion Post #1443 (Greenwood Lake) and PLAV Post #16 (Pine Island). • Bingo and games of change inspector: Fred Bramich. • Town historian and deputy town historian: Dr. Richard Hull and Sue Gardner. • Special counsel: Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP. • Engineer: Tectonic Engineering Consultants. • Deputy town clerks: Carolyn Purta, Melissa Stevens, and Joan Park. • Deputy receiver of taxes: Carolyn Marion. • Receiver of Taxes part-time help: Mary Beth Lodema, Carolyn Marion and Janina Kelly. • Auditor: Nugent & Haeussler, P.C. • Financial and Budget advisor: Stephen M. Brown. • Computer consultants: R.M. McKelvey Computer Consultants. • Marriage officers: Michael Sweeton, Mickey Shuback, James Gerstner, John Johansen and Richard E. Houseman Jr. • Peace Officer: Thomas F. McGovern, Sr. Meetings • The Town Board will meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. • Planning Board meetings will be held on the first and third Wednesdays each month, except holidays, at 7:30 p.m., at the Town Hall. Ben Astorino was reappointed as Planning Board chairman with a stipend of $3,000 per year. All other planning board members receive $2,500 per year. John Bollenback was appointed Planning Board attorney/deputy town attorney at a retainer of $20,000. • The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall. Jan L. Jansen was appointed chairman and compensated $500 per year. All other members will receive $400. Robert W. Fink was appointed the Zoning Board of Appeals attorney at a yearly retainer of $7,500. Dawn Woods is the ZBA recording secretary at $10.40 per hour.
