    On Friday, January 19, at approximately 3 p.m., a teacher at the George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo reported that her wallet was stolen from within her pocket book, which was located in her classroom. Town of Tuxedo Police responded to the school to investigate. Officers on scene interviewed possible witnesses and took statements. While comparing statements, officers developed a lead, which subsequently led to a person of interest, an 18-year-old student from Greenwood Lake. The student was contacted and agreed to come in to Tuxedo Police Headquarters to be interviewed. While at headquarters the student told police that he did in fact take the wallet from the teacher’s purse, remove the cash and then discard the wallet by throwing it into the woods over an embankment while traveling over the Tuxedo Mountain on St. Rte 17A. At approximately 12:05 a.m. Saturday Tuxedo Police recovered the wallet and its contents. The student was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, as well as petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He was processed and released into the custody of his parents for a January 25 court appearance date in Tuxedo Town Court. The Town of Tuxedo Police will not release the name of the student due to the fact that he mav be eligible for vouthful offender status.
