Town makes real estate transfer tax forms available online at www.townofwarwick.org.
Warwick - Wallingroad Technologies, the Town of Warwick’s webmaster, has created a new pop-up with links to the documents necessary to comply with Warwick’s new transfer tax law on the town’s Web site at www.townofwarwick.org. Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton also said that links been added to the documents on the Community Preservation page (under Residents-Town Hall). The form can be downloaded from the site; its also available in the Town Clerk’s Office. The tax takes effect on April 1, 2007. Deeds will not be accepted for filing with the County Clerk after April 1 without these forms. Town voters approved the transfer tax in November. It requires buyers of property in Warwick - under specific thresholds - to pay a real estate transfer tax of three-quarters of one percent. Those funds will be used to fund local farmland protection and open space and historic preservation efforts. Any questions can be referred to the town supervisor’s office at 845-986-1120 ext. 241.
