Town accepting Christmas trees

Warwick - The Town of Warwick is accepting Christmas trees across from the Recycling Center on DPW Drive off Kings Highway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., now through Jan. 31. Before dropping them off, residents are asked to remove Christmas trees bags, lights and ornaments. In other items from Supervisor Michael Sweeton’s office: • For the first time the Orange County Tax department has been able to list the cost of the voter-approved PDR-Open Space charge as a separate line on residents’ tax bills. In previous years this amount was included in the town tax line but now appears below it on a separate line. The town tax rate line is lower than last year by removing the PDR charge to its own line. The 2000 PDR voter-approved bond referendum, which appears on the tax bill, is not to be confused with the Real Estate Transfer tax approved in the November 2006 referendum which is paid by the buyer of property in the town. • If residents are uncertain whether their phone numbers are on the town’s Emergency Notification System, download the form from the town’s Web site and return it to the Warwick Police Department. • The next regular meeting of the Town Board will held Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall.
