Three programs mark
Sept. 11 this Sunday Warwick - On Sunday, Sept. 11, three ceremonies or programs will be held in Warwick to remember the victims of the World Trade Center attacks four years ago: At 8:30 a.m., the Nicholas P. Lesando Jr. American Legion Post #214 will host a program at Memorial Park in the Village of Warwick. It will include music, a show of support for the armed forces fighting around the world as well as moments of silence for the people who died on Sept. 11, 2001. At 1 p.m. and again at 5 p.m., a recording of Rene Clausen's 2003 composition "Memorial" will be played at Pacem in Terris. The recording was made this past May at Carnegie Hall by the Warwick Valley Chorale under the direction of Stanley Curtis. Pacem in Terris is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no charge for the program. At 3 p.m., a remembrance will be held at the Sanfordville Elementary School by the Sept. 11 Peace Memorial, which was constructed as a project by Beverly Braxton's class. This event usually includes music, readings by the children and other ceremonies to remember those lost on Sept. 11. "This is also a very moving event with an uplifting theme," said Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, "since the young participants express hope for better solutions to our problems than the violence of that awful day."
