Three charged with drug, weapons possession
Goshen - State Police in Monroe arrested three people early Wednesday on Route 17 after they said they found the driver of a car carrying a 9mm handgun loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. According to a press release from the Monroe barracks, troopers stopped a 1993 Subaru Impreza on the westbound side of Route 17 at 12:43 a.m. Wednesday for driving across hazardous markings in the roadway. A subsequent pat down of the driver, Pogual Grant, found him to be in possession of the loaded 9mm handgun. When they searched the vehicle, troopers said they also found a .45 caliber revolver, which was loaded with five rounds of ammunition; two plastic bags containing approximately 15 grams of powder cocaine; and 16 rocks of crack cocaine which weighed approximately five grams. Grant, 30, of Ellenville, and his passengers, Christian Pickel, 32, of Ellenville, and Nadine S. Borrero, 16, of Woodridge, were charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. They were arraigned before Goshen Town Judge Kim VanHaster and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each.
