Three candidates compete for Village of Warwick trustee - No competition in Florida, Greenwood Lake races

    Warwick — Village residents go to the polls this Tuesday, March 18, but there is only one contested race. Three candidates will vie for two trustee seats in the Village of Warwick. Incumbent Bill Iurato and challengers David Bartnowski and Barry Cheney are on the ballot. Iurato, 56, has served eight years on the Village Board. He has overseen the village summer concert series and is liaison to the Department of Public Works, water and sewer, and traffic and parking committees. He is the owner of Peck’s Wines and Spirits in Warwick. Bartnowski, 59, is a new home builder and general contractor, along with co-owner with his wife, Carol, of the Inkwell Office Supply Company. His volunteer activities include Applefest, the Town Masterplan Review Committee, and the Village Sign Ordinance Committee. Cheney, 58, is a civil and environmental engineer. He has served for 22 years on the village’s Planning Board, including six as its chairman. His other volunteer activities include the Central Place Strategy Committee, Comprehensive Master Plan Committee, Zoning Ordinance Revision Committee, and the Memorial Park Master Plan Committee. He is a longtime volunteer for Little League Baseball and the Warwick Valley School District. In Florida, Mayor James Pawliczek is seeking his fourth two-year term. This will be his first with no opposition. Trustees Thomas Fuller and Thomas Chevrier also face no opposition. Fuller is going for his fourth term; Chevrier his third. In Greenwood Lake, Agnes Kilduff and Brian Fisher will retain their seats on the board of trustees. Kilduff has served on the board for six years. Fisher was elected to his first term in 2006. The terms of office in both Florida and Greenwood Lake are two years. In Warwick, the term is four years.
