Thieves target parked cars in Sugar Loaf

    Sugar Loaf — Residents of Sugar Loaf reported items stolen from their vehicles while they were parked overnight, according to the Town of Chester Police Department. Eight people reported the thefts from their vehicles, police said. All of the vehicles were parked and unlocked at their owners’ residences. Small items were removed from most vehicles, and a portion of the stolen property has already been recovered. The thefts are believed to have occurred late at night on Sunday, Jan. 13, or early Monday morning, Jan. 14. Police are currently following up on leads in these larcenies, and are asking citizens to alert police to any suspicious activity if they see it. The police may be reached 24 hours a day at 469-9311. The police are urging citizens in the area to lock their vehicles, even when they are parked in their own driveways.
