The following worship services will be offered during Holy Week:
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 101 Main Street, Chester On Palm Sunday, April 9, the Sunday of The Passion, there will be a Procession Of The Palms at 9 a.m. Children will process through the church to Sunday school. On Wednesday Of Holy Week. April 12, Holy Eucharist With Healing Prayer will be offered at 7 p.m. Bible study of The Resurrection Experience will be held at 7:30 p.m. On Maundy Thursday, April 13, an Agape Supper at 6 p.m. will be followed by a Maundy Thursday Liturgy and Watch At The Altar Of Repose. On Good Friday, April 14, The Stations Of The Cross will be held at noon. The Good Friday Liturgy will be held at 7 p.m., with communion from the reserved sacrament and the stripping of the altar. On Holy Saturday, April 15, Morning Prayer will be offered at 8 a.m. The Great Vigil Of Easter will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the First Eucharist Of Easter at Christ Church in Warwick. Rev. J. Scott Barker will be the preacher, and Rev. Wayne Nicholson the celebrant. On Easter Sunday, April 16, The Feast Of The Resurrection, there will be a Festal Eucharist at 9 a.m. with guest musicians, Easter music and a celebration of our Lord’s triumph over death. Followed by a festive coffee hour. Wear hats. Bring bells. Christ Episcopal Church, 50 South Street, Warwick On Good Friday, April 14, a Good Friday Children’s Service will be held at 2:15 p.m. During a walk around the buildings and grounds, Rector J. Scott Barker will lead children and adults through the events leading to the crucifixion of Jesus. The stations on the church grounds will offer an opportunity for children to better understand Jesus’ experience on his last day: as they feel an actual crown of thorns, help carry a real cross, and ring the church bell at 3 p.m., the observed hour of Jesus’ death. The service is an opportunity for children and adults to consider both the spiritual and physical aspects of Christ’s final journey on foot, his death by crucifixion, and the tremendous human sacrifice this encompassed. Each child shall take home a keepsake of the day. No advanced notice is required to participate. On Good Friday, April 14, Vision Community Church and the Warwick Valley Community Center on Hamilton Ave will be hosting a viewing of the movie “The Passion of Christ.” Following the movie, Vision Community Church will hold a candle lit service in observance of Good Friday. The service is a mixture of traditional and new music, meditations on the event of the crucifixion, a video montage of “Passion” artwork throughout the ages and interactive stations in which the participants can contemplate the meaning of Jesus’ sacrifice in their lives. Vision Community Church is the newest church in Warwick, holding it’s Sunday morning celebrations at the Community Center. The center houses a nine-foot video screen and state of the art projection and sound system, making it the perfect location for the Church’s multi sensory worship experiences.
