Warwick - Sweetbriar’s, Warwick’s longtime premier chocolate shop at 26 Railroad Ave., officially reopened on July 29 featuring a new Dessert Cafe’ with an outdoor patio in the picturesque courtyard. “Who doesn’t love s’mores or chocolate fondue, “ said owner Ronnie Havens. “Yes, you can actually toast marshmallows right at your table, and make your very own s’mores. Or you can enjoy an array of chopped fruits and cake to dip in a fondue pot filled with your choice of dark, milk, or white chocolate.” S’mores are a traditional campfire treat with toasted marshmallows. Havens, who purchased Sweetbriar’s early this year, also recommends Oreo or Dreamsicle cake which tastes just like a Creamsicle. “And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy,” she said, “we’re sure that you will find one that will.” Havens explained that she went out of her way to select treats that are not only different but also provide a fun experience. “Why make a trip to the city, when you can get Baked by Melissa cupcakes or David Burke’s Cheesecake pops right here on Railroad Avenue,” she asks. Sweetbriar’s also offer items for kids such as the Kid’s Bear, a chocolate gelato bear with a candy face and cookie ears. There is also a stand set-up so that children can make sand art while the parents relax and enjoy their treats. And the sand art is edible and comes in different flavors. Other specialties include gluten-free molten lava cake, served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean gelato, gourmet apples with almost 30 different toppings and imported Italian ice cream and ices served in a cup, cone or waffle basket dipped in Belgian chocolate. Liquid refreshments include espresso, cappuccino, coffee, tea and hot or cold cocoa. Sweetbriar’s also carries its familiar selection of chocolates and candies for take-out. “We haven’t changed,” said Havens. “We just expanded.” The new Dessert Cafe’ and candy shop is open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and closed on Mondays.
