SUNY Orange to participate in interactive HVEC open house on Nov. 30

    Four colleges in the consortium to jointly simulcast event to prospective students MIDDLETOWN — The Hudson Valley Educational Consortium will be holding an informational admissions open house from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the interactive television rooms of the four HVEC member institutions. SUNY Orange will simulcast the event in Room 103 of the library on the college’s Middletown campus. The open house will provide interested prospective students with information on degree programs in fire protection technology, green building maintenance and management, wind turbine technology, cyber security and emergency management. The event will bring the four schools’ campuses together through the use of the colleges’ interactive video conference rooms. Students are welcome to participate by attending any of the four schools’ campuses. Simulcast locations at the other schools include: Rockland Community College, Technology Center, Room 8372; SUNY Ulster, Jacob A. Hasbrouck Technology Wing, Room 101(i); and SUNY Sullivan, Building B, Room B105. The academic programs under the consortium’s overview are coordinated by one of the four colleges but the courses are made available to students from the remaining three colleges in a combination of online and classroom study. Students can enroll in these programs by contacting the admissions office at their respective “home-county” college. The evening schedule is as follows: welcome from HVEC Director Katherine Boxer, 6 p.m.; fire protection technology overview (6:10 to 6:30 p.m.), green building maintenance and management overview (6:35 to 6:55 p.m.), wind turbine technology overview (7 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.), cyber security overview (7:25 to 7:45 p.m.), emergency management overview (7:50 to 8:10 p.m.) and closing remarks/questions (8:10 to 8:30 p.m.).
