Goshen — The Orange County Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Orange-Ulster BOCES, the Orange County Workforce Investment Board and the County of Orange, is participating in a program to increase summer internship opportunities for local high school students and recent graduates. “We want to increase the number of opportunities young people have to gain meaningful work experience,” said chamber president John A. D’Ambrosio. “Research tells us that such experiences offer relevance and valuable exposure to workplace requirements, motivating students to achieve in school and beyond. We’ve started identifying as many summer internships as possible, and are asking local businesses to let us know if they would be interested in hiring an intern.” Internships must pay at least the minimum wage of $6.75 per hour, and last from four to eight weeks. A form indicating interest in providing summer internship opportunities is available on the website. For more information, call 567-6229 or 291-0318 or visit www.orangeny.com.
