    Warwick - Registration is underway for this summer’s line-up of programs for children at the Albert Wisner Public Library. The theme is “Get A Clue” and the children’s room is featuring books and activities for young mystery lovers. Programs are open to all residents of the Warwick Valley School District. The reading programs were made possible by a state grant obtained by Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, R-C-Greenwood Lake, and funds provided by the Friends of the Albert Wisner Public Library. Programs for the very young The following programs will meet for five weeks. Registration is by lottery; registration forms are available in the Children’s room. Deadline: June 28 and notification by postcard. Child must be specified age by beginning of program. • Mother Goose Time 10 to 18 months Monday 10-10:30 or 11:15-11:45 a.m. (this includes social time), July 9-Aug. 6 • Toddler Time 18 to 36 months. Wednesdays at 9:30-10 a.m. July 11-Aug. 8 Fridays at 10-10:30 or 11:15-11:45 a.m., July 13-Aug. 10 Storytimes for preschool and school age children Registration for these storytimes is by lottery. Register for one, two or all three sessions, whatever fits your summer schedule. Each session is two weeks. Registration forms are available in the Children’s room. Thursdays, July 12-Aug. 16 at 7-7:45 p.m. Summer reading club ‘Get a clue’ Registration begins: Monday, June 11 Program Runs: July and August Open to: All Warwick School District Children, preschool through 5th Grade. When children register, they receive an “Official Reading Record Folder” to record the titles of the books they read. When they come to the library they show the Reading Record to the librarian in the Children’s Department, have it stamped and receive a weekly prize, including a free book from our special summer collection. Battle of the books For this book trivia program form teams of up to four kids or play alone. Prizes for all participants. Tournament: Thursday, Aug. 23, at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Church Parish Hall, South Street, Warwick. Grades 3-5; registration began June 11. Special programs Registration underway. • Chess. Play against other kids or learn to play. Tuesdays, July 10-Aug. 14, at 6:45-7:45 p.m. For grades 2-5. • Mad Science Welcome to Potions! Learn about the states of matter and have a fun time doing it. Wednesday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. For grades 2-5. • Kali’s Creatures Learn about snakes, lizards and birds from around the world. A touch and feel educational experience. Wednesday, July 18, at 11 a.m., for Grades K-3. • Harry Potter Trivia Go back to where it all began, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Join us for a trivia game with questions from the first book. Wednesday, July 18, at 6:45 p.m. For Grades 2-5. • Origami Learn the Japanese art of paper folding. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. Grades 2-5. • Get Lost In a Book Professional ventriloquist, Sylvia Markson, will have you laughing at the remarkable characters that live in her “Magic Trunk.” She may also get you excited about the possibilities that come from reading. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church. For ages 4-8. • The Comedy Magic Show A “just-for-fun” show of magic, mirth and mystery held on Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church. For Grades K-5. • Storytime Wall Hanging Help create a lasting wall hanging for the new Children’s Room. Each child will paint a square with a favorite character from a well-loved book. July 27 at 1:30 p.m. For Grades 3-5. • Flowerpot Still Life Warwick In Bloom and the library will hold a drawing class for children. The still life will be the large planters seen in Warwick. Miss Heller, art teacher in the Warwick schools, will conduct the classes on July 9 in Lewis Park. Grades K-2 at 9:30 a.m.; Grades 3-5 at 11 a.m. Rain date is July 11. • Hooray for Kindergarten! Going to kindergarten in September 2007? Come to the library for a special kindergarten storytime. We will read stories about what kindergarten could be like, have a snack and make a craft. Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. Registration begins July 30.
