Stratus Business Services, LLC A cloud based accounting firm with back office solutions By Ginny Raue Youve probably heard the expressions walking on clouds or head in the clouds but what do you know about doing business in a cloud? A chat with Ron Gray, C.P.A., who along with Ron Lembo, C.P.A., owns Stratus Business Services, LLC of West Milford and Wanaque, explained a lot. Stratus Business Services (SBS) is an off-shoot of the traditional accounting firm of Lembo and Gray. SBS specializes in providing cloud based financial services. Basically, the use of cloud based software and tools allows for cloud storage – the saving of data at an off-site storage system or facility maintained by a third party. If you store data in a cloud system the information is retrievable from any site that has internet access. Your information is stored in a server in a giant warehouse with very secure, military-grade encryption. Because of the cloud we have instant access, Gray said. What that means to the individual or business client is that by granting access and sharing the information you have stored in the cloud SBS can stay up to the minute with your data, a vast improvement over the old, much more time consuming methods. Because we use cloud based tools clients can be anywhere in the world and we both will have access to the same data. A client can log in and see how up to date things are, see whats going on in his business. Before cloud accounting the client could wait up to six weeks, now its pretty much instantaneous. As a result, we can give better, more current advice, he said. Gray, 54, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from SUNY Oneonta and has been practicing his craft for 25 years. Over the years Ive been working with individuals and small to medium size businesses, helping with income tax needs and business planning, the Wayne resident said. With the addition of the new technology, Gray and SBS can now interact with clients and provide real-time information and better services, allowing the individual to concentrate on and operate their business more efficiently and profitably. SBS provides services for and tends to clients with wide-ranging requirements. If you just need basic monthly accounting, thats fine. We have different levels of services for whatever you need from an accounting point of view, Gray said. SBS is a professional business services firm that provides bookkeeping, payroll and outsourced controllership. They can provide write-up services, personal income tax returns and they can arrange for staff to work off-site if requested. We are very sensitive to our clients needs.
