Warwick — The recent tropical storm and flooding has caused the Warwick Valley School District to make some changes regarding the first day of school for some students. Here’s how: The High School Freshman Orientation Day, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30, had to be postponed. Instead, orientation will now take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. Warwick’s ninth-graders will take their regularly-scheduled school bus at the normal pick-up and drop-off times. Warwick students in Kindergarten through ninth grade will have their first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 6, as originally scheduled. However, to allow high school freshman an opportunity to get to know their school and to find their lockers and classes, tenth through twelfth-graders will report for their first day of school one day later, on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Additionally, road closures due to storm damage may result in some bus schedule changes. Please check the district Web site (www.warwickvalleyschools.com) for updated information.
