Stolen signs mystify police

Warwick - The Railroad Green Village Park sign is missing from the canopy. On Saturday, Aug. 4, Warwick Village Trustee Bill Iurato looked up and was dismayed to see that the sign wasn’t there. Iurato is especially sensitive to missing signs. He owns Peck’s Wine & Spirits and was a recent victim of sign theft, as was the owner of a handcrafted sign on the lawn of a nearby bed and breakfast. The thefts have been reported to the Warwick Police Department. The Railroad Green sign, like the others, probably has little value to the vandals who stole it. But, because of the considerable expense involved in producing it for the Village, its value could easily exceed the New York State legal threshold for fourth degrees grand larceny. The thief’s best course of action would be to return the sign as soon as possible, Iurato said. Anyone with information about this theft should contact the Warwick Police Department.
