St. Stephen's Annual Picnic enjoys near perfect weather

WARWICK - After being rained out two years in a row, Father Michael McLoughlin, pastor of Warwick’s Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr, decided to move the annual outdoor Mass and parish picnic from the town park to the church grounds. The successful event took place on Sunday, Sept. 9. The idea was to have indoor facilities available so that the popular family event would not have to be canceled because of weather. And, as generally happens when changes are made, this year’s weather was near perfect. But there were other advantages to be gained by using the Parish grounds. Attendance was higher than in previous years and anyone who wasn’t particularly fond of sun and heat had the option of enjoying their picnic in an air-conditioned cafeteria while watching a Jets game on TV.
