WARWICK —When her name was announced, a group of nurses from St. Anthony Community Hospital rose to applaud. On April 29, at the annual Spring Ball, the Warwick Healthcare Campus, a member of Bon Secours Charity Health System, paid tribute to Nurse Laurie Motejl, RN. Apart from raising funds for the benefit of the hospital, a highlight of the Spring Ball this year was honoring a member of the community, two members of the medical staff and an outstanding hospital employee. Motejl has been a member of the St. Anthony Community Hospital nursing staff for over 30 years. During that time, she has served in a variety of nursing roles as medical surgical staff nurse, nurse supervisor and currently as Nursing Care Coordinator and nurse manager for the ICU/CCU department. Shortly after the ceremonies, guests were invited to bid on a variety of gifts with all proceeds going to help the expansion and modernization of St. Anthony Community Hospital. One interesting prize up for bid was catering a cocktail party for up to 30 guests. The entire affair would be provided and staffed gratis by volunteers Marge King-Porter, Deborah Krol, Anna Horowitz, Claire Gabelmann and Dr. Clara Chudow. The group of nurses, including Motejl, won that bid at no small cost and on Saturday evening, Sept. 16, they assembled at the home of Kim Frawley, RN. They enjoyed a spectacular cocktail party with drinks and gourmet appetizers. Additional information about the Warwick Healthcare Campus is available on the Web at www.stanthonycommunityhosp.org.
