Spring is a happening time in the village

Warwick The gorgeous spring blossoms are as abundant as the number of activities going on throughout the town and village. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 22, is Operation Clean Sweep. Those wishing to do the town’s “spring cleaning,” are asked to come by the Chamber of Commerce caboose on South Street to sign up beginning at 8 a.m. After helping clean up, take a walk up to Main Street to watch the annual Little League parade. It steps off at 10 a.m. Lineup starts at 9 a.m. The village’s spring trash pick-up commences Monday, April 24, and continues for two weeks. Village residents may put their household trash curb side for pickup by the Department of Public Works. The village’s annual Arbor Day celebration will be held at Stanley-Deming Park on Thursday, April 27, at 10 a.m. Park Avenue Elementary School students participate each year. The Village of Warwick has been named Tree City USA for the 22nd year, making it one of the most honored village’s in the state. The Tree City designation has been around for 27 years. The Merchant’s Guild is holding its annual Springfest on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Events will include a pet parade, live music, dance demonstrations, arts and crafts displays and children’s activities. It’s getting to be yard sale time. Village residents must get a permit from the village clerk, at a cost of $15 plus a $25 refundable security deposit for signs. When you get your permit, you will also receive four sign stickers, allowing you to post up to four signs throughout the village. Signs must be staked in the ground don’t staple them on trees or utility poles. There are group rates available for neighborhood sales. Village residents may have two sales in a calendar year. The village’s concert schedule is taking shape. So far, three have been set: June 17 for the New York Swing Exchange; Aug. 12 for the Latin sounds of Sonando; and Sept. 10 for Dick Wells and the Big Band Swing Machine. More concerts are planned.
