Wrestler Ryan Bedross chosen as WVHS ‘Student–Athlete of the Week’

WARWICK — Wrestler Ryan Bedross has been selected as this week’s Warwick Valley High School “Student–Athlete of the Week” through the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.

The senior wrestling standout won the Section 9 title at 152 lbs. last weekend and will travel to Pepsi Arena in Albany this coming weekend to compete in the state championships.

Ryan finishes his season with a record of 30–8 and with a varsity career record of 86 wins and 24 losses. Ryan is among the five Section 9 champions and one wildcard entry from Warwick who will compete in the state tournament.

Ryan has a grade point average of 80 and was a four-year standout for the division champion boys soccer team. He plans to study criminal justice and wrestle in college. He is being recruited by Hunter College and Mount St. Vincent, both located in New York City.

He is the son of Arlene and Gregory Bedross of Warwick. He has a sister Amanda and brother Michael.
