— Senior Connor Leavell is this week’s Warwick Valley High School “Student-Athlete of the Week” through the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agencey in Warwick.

The captain of the varsity wrestling team finishes his career as a two-time Section 9 Champion and the first wrestler in the history of Section 9 wrestling to win a section championship in his senior year (182 lbs.) two weight classes below the weight he won it at in his junior year (220 lbs).

Connor completed his career with an overall record of 107–31, an amazing mark considering he rehabilitated himself from knee surgery this past spring.

Connor has demonstrated great leadership in his years at Warwick and is a major contributor to the athletic program as a three-sport student–athlete. He is a three-year varsity football standout, a six-year varsity wrestler and will be entering his third year as a varsity lacrosse player.

He also is a six-time NYSPHSAA Scholar–Athlete. He earned an 89.5 grade point average this winter while taking two Advanced Placement courses for College Credit.

Connor has been accepted at Hofstra, Pace and Scranton. He plans to major in English and advertising.

He is the son of Mary Leavell–Edwards and Ted Edwards of Warwick. His sister Emma is a junior at Warwick Valley High School.
