Washingtonville Below are scores for the second week of games played by the Orange County Soccer League for Women’s Recreational Soccer in Washingtonville. Thursday, July 6 Dutchess County vs. Freedom Air (Montgomery) Final score: Dutchess County 4, Freedom Air 1 Jill Siruchek scored Freedom Air’s only goal. Dutchess County’s goals were scored by Michele Mahoney (2), Karen Thomas (1), and Gabrielle Weinckowski (1). The Copper Bottom (Florida) vs. Halligan’s Public House (Warwick) Final score: The Copper Bottom 8, Halligan’s Public House 3 The Copper Bottom’s goals were made by Jillian Schweizer (5), Angie Trzepkowski (2) and Linda Dolansky (1). The Copper Bottom team played a great game! Halligan’s Public House’s Jen Disy had a shot that the goalie knocked away; Inga Helseth followed it up for a goal. A pass through the center by Sarah Franklin led to Jen Disy’s first goal, and then a direct kick led to Disy’s second goal of the game. Great defense played by Nancy Donahue and Maureen Donahue could not stop the shots from flying in. On the offense, Disy, Helseth, and Franklin hammered away but were unable to connect with the net to bring Halligan’s Public House back into the game. A fast-paced, competitive game was played by all. Callahan and Nannini (Blooming Grove) vs. Schlesinger’s Restaurant (New Windsor) Final score: Callahan and Nannini 5, Schlesinger’s Restaurant 1 Callahan and Nannini’s goals were scored by Rachel Boccard, PattiAnn Randazzo, Gina Didgeon, Jen Caudy, and Noreen Nannini. Special thanks to Rachel Boccard from the Loughran’s team, Jen Davis from the Freedom Air team and Theresa Conlon and Jannine Barbosa from the Gary Goldberg Financial Services team for helping sub. Gary Goldberg Financial Services (Suffern) vs. Loughran’s (Salisbury Mills) Final score: Gary Goldberg Financial Services 5, Loughran’s 3 Up in the hills on a hot summer night, Loughran’s and Gary Goldberg Financial Services (GGFS) met to battle it out on the soccer field. The competition was fierce as each team tried to take control of the field and the game. GGFS had a big jump in the first half when Tricia Kent gracefully guided the ball into the net. Laura Farley did her jig around the Loughran’s defense to score. Sarah Farina, from out of nowhere, also scored to lead GGFS 3-0 in the first half. Fresh and renewed Loughran’s came onto the field with a vengeance. Erica Morris took control of the situation and the ball beautifully assisting Laura Farley in her 2nd goal of the game. Loughran’s tried to gain control of the game by scoring 3 goals, but GGFS’s defense fought back. Diane Stevenson and Andrea DeCastro in the blink of an eye went from defense to offense and back. Melinda jumped in goal, so Sarah MacDonald could flaunt her ball control skills using her feet this time. Susan Lindsey and Theresa Conlon tightly guarded the right and left sides of the defensive zone while Jannine Barbosa controlled the middle. Heather Galligan continuously fired the ball at the goal and to the other teammates. Tricia Kent sealed the deal by placing one more in the goal to bring the final score to 5-3.
