Winter program moves ahead at Broadview

Chester — Last weekend over fifteen members of the Chester community came out on Sunday morning to get things ready for the new winter programs. They unloaded and stacked over 300 hay bales, to be used as a safety buffer for sleigh and snow tube riders. The group also moved an old feeding trough that will be used as an informational kiosk in the parking lot. The Broadview property will open in early 2006 to sleigh and snow tube riding, as well as cross country skiing. Park rules and hours will be released in the next few weeks and posted on the kiosk. Members of the Chester Fire Department, Parks and Recreation Commission, and other community members came out to help, including Councilman Neuhaus. “Unloading hay is no easy task, but we were able to finish the job in under two hours,” he stated. “We expect to have the program running in less then two weeks.” Photos of the day can be viewed at www.chesterfiredepartment.org/photogalleries2/ce-tphelp.
