FLORIDA-Three more games; three more wins. The Seward Spartan soccer team continues to add to their win column. The three victories push the Spartan overall record to 13-0-2. They are 4-0-1 in Division V of the OCIAA. On Monday at home the Spartans played host to Class A Monticello (Division III) and inflicted a 3-1 loss on the visitors. At Chester on Wednesday Florida solidified its hold on first place in Division play with a hard-fought 2-0 win over the Hambletonians. And then the next day, they played down a Division to take the measure of Division VI Eldred, 12-0. Monticello scored first on Monday, but the Spartans came back to tie on a long crossing pass from Bryan Folkl that Rich Nozkowski was able to ram home. While the stingy Spartan defense kept the Panthers at bay in the second half, goals by Chris Slesinski and Folkl put the game out of reach. Assists were credited to Folk, Nozkowski and Corey deJong. On Wednesday against Chester Nozkowski tallied both goals as Florida notched the 2-0 win in league play. Assists were chalked up by Mickey Collins, Folkl and Dylan Gaucher. Thursday’s non-league game against a mismatched, but spirited Eldred team resulted in a 12-0 win for the high-flying Spartans, who are currently ranked fifth in the state in Class C. Nozkowski continued his scoring spree with a pair of goals. Ten other Spartans got into the scoring act. Nozkowski and Steve Sinisi led the assist column with two apiece, and keeper Wayne Hallock registered another shutout. The Spartans are on the verge of clinching the Division V title.
