WARWICK — The Warwick Youth Lacrosse Club is hosting its 11th annual lacrosse tournament, aptly named The Applefest Shootout, at the Warwick Town Park on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10 and 11.

The shootout is expected to have nearly 100 teams from four states, playing close to 200 games over two days on ten different fields.

Several thousand people are expected to attend and participate.

"The Applefest Shootout is our largest annual fund raiser and 2015 will be the biggest tournament we’ve ever hosted," said Tom Post, president of Warwick Youth Lacrosse.

"We have been overwhelmed in 2015 by all of the positive interest in our club and the Applefest Shootout Tournament," Post added. "It’s the hottest Fall Lacrosse Tournament around.

Post noted that registration for the boy's day is closed, and now has a waiting list.

The girl’s registration is nearing capacity.

"This is a terrific opportunity for our kids to participate in a fun, competitive lacrosse weekend, playing teams from different states and clubs they don’t normally meet," the club president said. "It allows them to see where they stack up competitively. Our kids also learn the importance of volunteering their time to make it a successful day."
