Warwick Valley golf team finishes 13-2

— Sean Ginley and Nikolai Quigley qualified for the 2013 NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championships which will be held on June 2-3 at the Robert Trent Hones Golf Course on the campus of Cornell University.

The duo will represent Section IX in the state tournament.

Ginley, a junior, shot a 76 and 80 for a total of 156 in the Section IX championships this past week to finish in fifth place and qualify for the state tournament.

Quigley, also a junior, qualified by shooting an 80 and 83 for a total score of 163. Quigley had to win a playoff with four other competitors to qualify.

Other finishers
The Section IX championships were held at Mansion Ridge and Casperkill.

Junior Russ Auth finished with a 163 as well, but lost in the playoff for the one of final two spots to qualify for the state championships.

Auth will be the second alternate for the team.

Senior Grant Gadomski shot a 86 in the first round of the Section IX tournament and failed to qualify for the second round of the tournament. Gadomski had a terrific year as he was the low scorer on the 2013 team.

Senior Ben Bisaro and junior Justin Starer qualified for the OCIAA Championships but failed to advance to the Section IX Championships.

Promising future
Warwick Valley golfers had another outstanding year as they went undefeated in division play to win their tenth consecutive division championship. Their final record for the season was 13 -2 .

The future looks bright for Warwick golf as only Bisaro, Gadomski, Thomas Krahulik and Sam Chester will be graduating in June.

Returning next year will be juniors Ginley, Quigley, Auth, Starer, Frank Annicaro, Brendan Corneby, Stephen Seccafico, Casey Swingle and Nick Vandenboss. Also returning will be sophomores Jonas Kim and Liam Little along with freshmen Ian Laroe, Scott Tiger and Nick Ferreira.
