Warwick Soccer Club hosts first club tournament

WARWICK The Warwick Soccer Club held its first tournament for players in the U7, U8 and U9 pre-travel program during the spring seasons Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 19.
It was a great end to the Family Fun Day festivities that the club hosts every season for its members and their families. A performance by Foley Road, a bounce house, free cotton candy and popcorn, along with Saturdays beautiful weather, were enjoyed by all.
Players in the Warwick pre-travel program were joined by the Kingston Attack U7 boys team for a round-robin tournament played at the Warwick Town Park on Union Corners Road.
The winners: U7 B/G division Hornets coached by Rob Horn.
U8/9G division Rangerettes coached by Al Walsh.
U8/9B division Chaos coached by Rob Horn.
Family Fun Day included All Star games for those divisions not included in the tournament age groups but the club looks forward to offering tournament play to all divisions in the near future.
The pre-travel program is a new program under the direction of Director of Coaching Rob Horn with the assistance of Brian Kolacy and First Vice President Jon Desrats to prepare the U7, U8 and U9 members of the club for travel soccer starting at the age of nine.
Each fall the soccer club sponsors a new team in both the U9 boys and U9 girls division to introduce the player and their families to the higher level of competition and commitment required in travel soccer. Tryouts are held in May of each year and teams are formed in early June for the following fall season.
The Warwick Soccer Club registers more than 1,500 children in both Recreational and travel soccer. The club currently fields travel teams in both boys and girls divisions of East Hudson Youth Soccer League in the U9 through U13, Boys U 15 and high school eligible boys and girls, along with both spring and fall recreational soccer seasons for ages 4 through 17.
Registration for the fall season is open; information is available on the clubs Web site at www.warwicksoccer.com.
