Warwick runner wins state title

— Warwick Freshman Megan Reilly won the state large school individual cross country championship in Buffalo this weekend with a time of 17:34.3.

Reilly finished tops in Class A and the Wilcat team finished fourth in the state large school championship with outstanding efforts by the Lady Wildcats.

Reilly finished first followed by Katie FitzGerald (39th), Agnes Eigo (53rd), Hanna Cavanagh (77th), Darby Ginley (81st), Shannon Bauer (93rd) and Emily Jados (100th).

The Wildcats finished behind Fayetteville Manlius, Saratoga Springs and Rush Henrietta.

Wildcats also finished fourth

The Boys’ Cross Country Team also finished fourth in the large school field and qualified for the Federation Championships this weekend.

The Wildcats were led by Dan Peterson (34th), Grant Parrelli (39th), Aaron Peterson (45th), Jared Olson (50th), Jordan Burton (52nd), Tanner Senius (65th) and Sean Halligan (89th).

The Wildcats trailed only Saratoga Springs, Fayetteville Manlius and Northport in the overall title chase.

Congratulations to both teams and their outstanding coaches Richard Furst, Michael Potter, Curtis Akacki and Wendy Warnock. Good luck to both teams at the Federation Championship this Saturday, Nov. 17, in Bowdoin Park, across the Hudson in Wappingers Falls.
