Warwick freshman punts for Team Canada at Youth Eastbay All America Bowl

WARWICK — Davis Brief, a freshman at Warwick Valley High School, punted and kicked for Team Canada in the Youth Eastbay All America Bowl held on Jan. 5 at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.
The game put the top high school freshman from both Canada and the United States against each other. Team USA won by a score of 35-0.
Davis had one kick-off and five punts in the game. One punt, good for 47 yards, set a freshman game record for Team Canada.
Davis has kicked for the Warwick Valley varsity football team the past two years (as an 8th grader and 9th grader) and was selected by the Eastbay Selection Committee to compete for Team Canada.
According to the group’s Web site (www.footballuniversity.org), “several thousand youth athletes are nominated annually for this elite honor. The Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl selection committee includes regional directors and scouts from Football University, the invitation-only camp for elite-level youth and prep players focusing on teaching technique and skill in a small-group setting under the professional tutelage of former NFL players and coaches. These regional directors and scouts work year-round with hundreds of local youth football coaches and commissioners across the country to identify top athletes for the Football University.”
The program also provides “intense position-specific technique training” by former and current NFL coaches.
