Warwick Crew Club competes in indoor regatta in New Windsor

Warwick - The Warwick Crew Club traveled to New Windsor on Saturday for the annual Eastern NYS Indoor Regatta hosted by Newburgh Free Academy. This race is a 2000 meter race on Concept2 Rowing Machines called “ergs,” short for rowing ergometers. While many of the club members had other commitments, our small squad captured five of the 15 possible boys’ medals, including two firsts, a second and two thirds. Together, they also had three of the six fastest times of the day, with Frank Petrucci having the fastest time (6:51.3) in the regatta (the second time he has achieved that distinction in three weeks). Eric Robotti came in with a time of 7:17.6, and Kyle Vander Plaat had the fastes ttime amongst the lightweights (7:04.0) and the third fastest time of the day, beaten only by Frank and one NFA heavyweight. This is the first league race of the season for the Warwick Club, and though NFA dominated in the team scoring, it was an auspicious beginning as the team looks forward to its first on-water regatta on Greenwood Lake April 8 at 10 a.m.
