Veterans on the move

Warrior Hike members Sean Gobin (left) and Mark Silvers flank Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton at the Bellvale Creamery earlier this summer where Sweeton treated the two veterans to some fine local ice cream as they took a break from hiking all 2,180 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Gobin and Silvers started out from Hawk Mountain in Pennsylvania on March 15 and are hosting 38 separate fund raisers at Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts along the way in order to help purchase adaptive vehicles for veterans who have suffered multiple amputations during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Both Gobin and Silvers are Marines who served multiple tours in Afghanistan. Their journey concludes at Mount Katahdin in Maine on July 29.
