— Supporters of United Martial Arts Center in Warwick raised $3,870 for a college scholarship fund during its recent Break-A-Thon.
More than 300 children and adults attend the event, which, according to Grand Master Edmund Ciarfella, owner and founder of United Martial Arts Centers, creates a sense of community.
“We have broken boards with our bare hands, and sometimes we have to overcome adversity and challenges as we watch people close to our heart having challenges in their lives,” said Ciarfella. “While we test our skills in Taekwondo and strive to reach our full potential, United Martial Arts Centers has earned its black belt in supporting the community for the past 25 years.”
This is why UMAC goes above and beyond the call to break thousands of boards for a college scholarship fund at the Break-A-Thon and collected a wealth of resources to help offset college tuition for students.
“The work that UMAC does infuses children and adults with esteem, personal awareness, physical fitness and mental confidence,” said Ciarfella. “We know that these are strong strategies to help stay mentally, physically and spiritually healthy.”
