Transportation available for After School Academy

FLORIDA — The Frozen Ropes After School Academy kicked off in early September, offering students in local districts training right after school - and a ride there, too.
Former Major League pitcher Mike Bertotti picked up students in Goshen and Florida in the Frozen Ropes Fan Van and brought them to The Rock Sports Park in Chester to spend their after-school hours training with their top instructors.
Bertotti played college baseball for Iona College. He was signed by the White Sox in the 31st round of the 1991 amateur draft.
Bertotti played his first professional season with their Class-A (Short Season) Utica Blue Sox in 1991, and his last with the New York Yankees’ Triple-A Columbus Clippers in 2001.
He played during three seasons at the major league level for the Chicago White Sox.
“Rather than watching TV or playing video games,” Michele L. Biaso, the director of business affairs, said in the Frozen Ropes press release announcing the program, “the After School Sports Academy players spent time on the baseball fields, participating in a wide variety of activities with emphasis on baseball. And, they also got their homework done, too.”
Transportation to the academy is offered to players in many school districts throughout the county and a drop-off option is available to any player. Players also have the option for late pick-up and school holiday/half-day camps.
