Thomas Key receives national soccer excellence award

TUXEDO — The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has presented its Senior Excellence Award to George F. Baker High School student Thomas Key in recognition of his soccer excellence, leadership and scholarship.
Key was the Tornado’s Most Valuable Offensive Player for the season. Despite often being double-teamed by opponents, Key led the team with 19 goals this season. He also was the captain of the team that finished second in Division 5 of the OCIAA
“Thomas was a pleasure to coach,” Coach Dave Powers said in the school’s press release announcing Key’s award. “He embodied those attributes that exemplify a true student athlete, namely a commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom, hard work and the ability to lead others to do something bigger than just themselves.”
Key has expressed an interest in studying law enforcement in college.
