Tennis player Michael Reiss named M-W athlete of the week

    Central Valley - Junior Michael Reiss, a member of the Varsity Tennis Team, has been named the Monroe-Woodbury Athlete of the Week. Reiss has been a member of the Tennis team since his Freshman year. He represented Monroe-Woodbury as first singles player for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. His record last season was 12-2 and he was the only player to represent Monroe-Woodbury at the state tournament. Reiss also was the team’s MVP of the 2005 season. According to the M-W Athletic Department, his performance this season has been solid and he plays with a great amount of finesse and excellent technique, which he continues to fine tune. His coaches describe him as a team player, encouraging his teammates and giving them pointers based on his tennis experience. His coaches also add that they have high hopes for Reiss to again represent Monroe-Woodbury at the state tournament. This week, the team’s record stood at 11-7 (including 7-1 in OCIAA play).
