Tennis player Jeanie McCarthy chosen Warwick Valley High School’s ‘Student-Athlete of the Week’

WARWICK — Senior Jeanie McCarthy has been named this week’s Warwick Valley High School “Student–Athlete” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.
Jeanie has been on the forefront of the Warwick girls tennis program for three years as a varsity player. Now captain of the Girls Varsity Tennis team, she plays second singles. Jeanie has had great success this season, posting a 6–1 record in the Orange County League. The team is currently 7–0.
Jeanie ranks in the top 10 percent of her class with a grade point average of 94.6 and has qualified for the high honor roll.
Her class load includes Advance Placement Government and Literature as well as the Orange Community College Algebra Class for College Credit.
She is committed to success in tennis playing year round at Match Point Tennis when not in season for the Wildcats.
Jeanie also is a member of the Warwick Valley High School Chamber Orchestra and plays the violin and piano at the Bloomingdale’s School of Music in New York City.
Jeanie would like to continue playing tennis in college and has been recruited by Ithaca College and Gettysburg, where she plans to major in music education.
Jeanie is the daughter of Regina and Kevin McCarthy of Warwick. Her four brothers (Kevin, Mike, Pete and Joe) were outstanding Warwick Valley student–athletes and have all followed the path of her father as New York City firefighters.
