— Taylor Baldwin, the captain of the Warwick Valley High School’s girls varsity basketball team, is the school’s “Student-Athlete of the Week” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.

Taylor is a two-year varsity basketball captain and standout who has been a key contributor to the team’s 2–1 start, including Friday night’s one point victory over Section 9 defending champion Valley Central.

Taylor currently leads the team in assists and is second in scoring. Coach Jim O’Brien believes she is one of the top defensive players in the Orange County.

This fall, Taylor was selected as a Time Herald-Record volleyball all-star.

Taylor is a four-time New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar–Athlete for varsity basketball and volleyball. She maintains a 96.38 grade point average while taking a challenging course load consisting of four advanced placement classes (literature, government, U.S. history and biology) and is currently enrolled in the SUNY Orange calculus course.

The student-athlete is a member of the student senate, Future Business Leaders of America and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society and represented Warwick at the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Conference held at Reneselear Polytechnic Institute.

Taylor has narrowed her college decisions to the University of Maryland, University of Delaware and Northeastern where she plans to continue her education upon graduation this spring.

Taylor is the daughter of Joseph and Nancy Baldwin of Warwick. Her brother Collin is a junior at University of Delaware and former Section 9 Lacrosse All Star.
