Swimmer Emily Zarow named 'Student–Athlete of the Week'

WARWICK — Senior Emily Zarow, captain of the Warwick Valley Girls Varsity Swimming team, has been named this week’s “Athlete of the Week” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.
Emily is off to a strong season and has been a big contributor to the team’s victories this past week over Marlboro and Middletown.
In 2011 she finished eighth in the 100 back stroke and twelfth in the 100 butterfly at the Section 9 Championships and she expects to improve on those finishes this year.
She is also a member of three relays. She has been swimming for six years on the varsity team and was selected the team captain as a senior.
Emily also is an outstanding student and is ranked in the top 5 percent of her class and has been a scholar–athlete every season (she is currently 25th overall).
She has taken five Advanced Placement Classes for college credit and plans to continue her education in the field of occupational therapy upon graduation. She has narrowed her college choices to University of New Hampshire, Miami University of Ohio, Ohio State University and University of Michigan.
Emily has supported many good causes and volunteers at Winslow Therapeutic and Pets Alive. She also is a leader of her Youth Group and an accomplished Equestrian.
Emily is the daughter of Cindy and Kevin Zarow of Warwick.
