Swimmer Donald Furman named athlete of the week

    Central Valley - Donald Furman, a member of the varsity swim and dive team, has been named the Monroe-Woodbury High School athlete of the week. Furman, a senior, is having an outstanding season. On Dec. 22, he and teammates Matt Woods, Kramer Jakubek and Alex Kral set a new pool record in a relay race. Earlier this month, he qualified for the New York State Championships in the 500-yard freestyle with a great win in Washingtonville. The Crusaders remain undefeated in the league so far this season, due to the efforts by Furman and his teammates. Each week, the Monroe-Woodbury High School Athletic Department recognizes a student or students who maintain a high degree of success in all areas pertaining to academics while also demonstrating good citizenship and outstanding game sportsmanship.
