Survivors 8K Run/Walk this Saturday to raise money for cancer center

— The Survivors 8K Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 8, will celebrate cancer survivors and their families as the kickoff event to the festivities of General Montgomery Day.
Proceeds will support the Patient Navigation Program of the Hudson Valley Cancer Resource Center.
Runners and walkers will race 4.97 miles through a moderately challenging course starting and ending at the Montgomery Senior Center. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and the race starts, rain or shine, at 8 a.m.
The event includes a bone marrow registry, awards, runners' bags, and raffles. Participants can register online at Survivors8.org.
Participants are encouraged to form teams to honor loved one, friends, family, neighbors and co-workers affected by cancer.

The registration fee is $25, or $30 on the day of the race. The fee for those ages 15 and under is $15.
The center's missionThe mission of the not-for-profit Cancer Resource Center is to advocate for and connect the Hudson Valley community of people living with and affected by cancer with informational and educational resources and support services to improve quality of life through all stages of the cancer journey. All services are provided free of charge, and more than 1,200 patients and their families have been assisted.
The center’s website, hudsonvalleycancer.org, is an award-winning navigational tool for cancer patients, cancer survivors, their families, caregivers and healthcare professionals to find necessary resources, programs and services needed to help ease the burden of challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis. They serve 10 counties of the Hudson Valley region, Westchester to Albany, including Sullivan County.
