Sports Fitness & Fun to host gymnastics meet
FLORIDA-Sports, Fitness & Fun will host an Invitational Gymnastics Meet of six to ten girls’ teams on Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12. The participating teams range from Level 4 (entry level) to Level 10 (advanced). The teams will compete in balance beam, vault, uneven bars and floor exercises. The meet will be judged by USA Gymnastic judges, and trophies and medals will be awarded. “As the largest gymnastics training facility in New York State,” stated Irene Lerz, gymnastics director, “we know that gymnastics helps children to develop coordination, flexibility and strength and increases their self esteem and confidence. These are qualities that will benefit them in school and throughout their lives.” The sports center offers gymnastics classes from beginner to advanced, with over 1000 children enrolled in parent and baby classes, and preschool through competitive team programs. All gymnastics teachers are USA Gymnastics Safety Certified. Head coaches Olga and Valeri Koltchine were formerly Junior National Team coaches at the Olympic training school in Russia. The center is a member of the United States Association of Independent Gymnastic Clubs, and its gymnastics team won the state championship in 2005. The 41,000 square foot facility offers a full service health club, with group classes for all ages, exercise equipment, personal training, Pilates instruction, the largest gymnastics training facility in the area, competitive cheerleading programs, martial arts and Tae Kwon Do instruction, on-premise physical therapy, a pro shop, an indoor playground, birthday parties, and refreshments at Jonnie’s Café.
