WARWICK - Warwick Valley High School senior Scott Einhorn received $750 as the recipient of the Warwick Baseball Club annual scholarship award on June 13. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is a two-year letter winner in baseball (JV or Varsity) in the Warwick Valley School District. In addition to demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship and team spirit, the student must also have achieved academic success by maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 80 or higher for eight consecutive marking periods. Criteria selection is also based on community service, an essay and letters of recommendation. Einhorn, the Wildcat second-baseman, ranked tenth out of the 350 students in his graduating class. This fall, he will attend Binghamton University in New York where he plans to major in business. He also hopes to attend law school and pursue a career as a sports agent. He is the son of Ellen Einhorn of Warwick and Bill Einhorn of Rockland County. Together with Warwick Baseball Club President Matt Victor, Warwick Varsity Coach Mike Careccia congratulated Einhorn on being the recipient of this year’s scholarship. Careccia remarked that this student has exemplified class, determination, conscientious effort, enthusiasm to learn, and a willingness to better himself on the ball field or in the classroom. “It is for all these reasons and more that he is well deserving of this scholarship.” The Warwick Baseball Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for youth baseball and softball programs throughout the Warwick community.
