Runners Mayer and Chun named M-W athletes of the week

Central Valley - Two members of the spring track teams, Lauren Mayer and Andrew Chun, have been named athletes of the week by the Monroe-Woodbury High School Athletic Department staff. Mayer has led the Monroe-Woodbury Girls distance squad all season with a personal best in the 400 meter, 800 meter and 1,500-meter run. According to her coaches, “Lauren works very hard to achieve her success and she has had a wonderful season thus far. Only a sophomore, Lauren will continue to improve on her performances.” Chun, also a sophomore, continuously strives for excellence. This season, he has had a personal best in the 400 meters, 800 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 100-meter dash and 110-meter hurdles. According to his coaches, Chun is a scholar athlete who has a bright future in the sport. Each week the Athletic Department recognizes a student or students who maintain a high degree of success in all areas pertaining to academics while also demonstrating good citizenship and outstanding game sportsmanship.
