Runner Jessica Stokkeland named ‘Student-Athlete of the Week’

WARWICK — Jessica Stokkeland is this week’s Warwick Valley High School “Student–Athlete” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.

Jessica, now in her sixth year of running for the girls track program, specializes in the sprint and middle distance events.

Her performance on April 22 was key to the Wildcats’ divisional victory over opponent Cornwall on the track. She was part of the 4X400 and 4X800 meter relays that took first place and secured the Wildcats’ five point win.

Jessica will be attending the Penn Relays this weekend at the University of Pennsylvania, running the 400-meter leg of the distance medley relay. Her best time to date in the 400 is 59.9.

Jessica has been accepted to St. Thomas Aquinas College where she will continue her education next fall studying therapeutic recreation.

Jessica is the daughter of Cheryl Ann and Kjell Stokkeland of Chester. Her sister Ashley is a sophomore at St. Thomas Aquinas and Korey is a freshman at Warwick high school.
