Warwick Valley High School is proud to select senior track star Behailu Bekele–Arcuri as this week's Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Student-Athlete of the Week.

Behailu is a three-season track athlete (Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track) and the NYSPHSAA 2019 State Cross Country Champion. He also is four-time individual Section IX Cross Country Champ.

Behailu was selected New York State USA Track and Field Runner of the Year three times and a key contributor to the success of the Indoor Track Team that will challenge for a Division Title this Friday night at West Point.

This spring he will look to defend his section titles in the 1600 and 3200 meter events.

Behailu was born in Ethiopia and came to the United States at 10 years of age. He quickly picked up English and has earned an overall B+ average in a challenging course load that includes four advanced placement courses for college credit (AP US History, AP Government, AP European History, and AP World History).

Behailu recently accepted an athletic scholarship to run for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He is undecided on his major.

Behailu is the son of Dr. Zewditu and Thomas Bekele-Arcuri of Warwick.
